Hello Everyone

Sorry that I have been silent for a little while. My wife has not been well for some time, and has finally been diagnosed with an Insulinoma, which is quite rare apparently. Anyway, she is having further tests and they are testing her also for MEN1 which is even stranger! We just plod on!!

On my own front, I am now in my second week of Sulfasalazine, and am up to 1000mg per day plus the steroids, the aim is to get to 2000 mg per day in the next two weeks. Apart from occasional bouts of nausea, and the few (excruciating) headaches, I have not found it too bad. What I am not looking forward to is stopping the steroids. I have found them to be very helpful, but have been told that once I reach the 4000mg of Sulfazalzine I must reduce then discontinue the steroids.

I had my CT scan on my chest yesterday, and assuming that they rule out Intersticial Lung Disease, I will then also be taking Methotrexate. Our 'dispensing tin' is beginning to look more like Boots Chemists every day.

I hope that all is well with all of you, and thank you once again for the cheery and encouraging words. They really do mean a lot.

Take care and have a great week.

Paul.

What an array of drugs you are collecting. Sorry to hear your wifes' diagnosisis, but have to admit I haven't heard of any of that. Hoping that the CT scan means you are OK to start MTX - it has been one of the best for me.

Morning Paul

Good to hear from you, pleased to know your meds seem to be sending you in the right direction and coping well with the sulfasalazine. When I started leflunomide I had terrible headaches and found a lovely cold flannel very comforting, I was fortunate as they eventually subsided too. I think we can all understand that you don t want to stop the steroids I have had to up my dose by quite a bit as my meds are not controlling the RA - it is all just a juggling act, I am positive you get there in the end - just takes time, its just a good job that people with RA are blessed with an abundance of patience !!

Sorry to hear your wife is having problems and hopefully her medical team confirm diagnosis and get matters sorted ( googled them ).

Please keep us posted on all fronts

Take care Julia

Hello PAul

So sorry to hear that your wife has been so ill. I hope she will soon
feel better.

You are on a cocktail of drugs (like a lot of us ) I have a special cupboard
now. Ha Ha,

Good luck and hope you continue to improve.

Rose
